About Johnnie B. Blanding
Johnnie B. Blanding, born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1941, was an educator for many years before moving to San Francisco to raise a family. A resident of the Bayview neighborhood, Mrs. Blanding was a Sunday School teacher and a regular sight around the neighborhood. She passed away in 2010.
Mrs. Blanding’s commitment to education led the family to establish a scholarship in her honor. We hope to provide college-bound seniors with tools to help them enrich their lives and neighborhoods, wherever they go in life.
The Bayview Neighborhood & Education
The Bayview area of San Francisco has a history of being a welcoming home to a diverse group of people. While the neighborhood has gone through many changes recently, the need for better resources for our children in constant. Through the Johnnie B. Blanding Scholarship Fund, our aims not to just provide financial support for students going to college, but to be a resource for them in their educational journey.
Through educational support, we hope to empower young college students of today to positively impact the world around them.
